Founded in 1970, Paris Saint-Germain are relatively young compared with many of Europe's major football clubs.    Paris Saint-Germain were formed in 1970 when Paris FC joined with Stade Saint-Germain, a club whose history stretched back to 1904.

   PSG and Paris FC separated in 1972, with Paris FC retaining top-flight status while Paris Saint-Germain were forced to rebuild in the lower divisions.

4. Their classic shirt was designed by the club president
   The famous blue shirt with a central red stripe bordered by white was created by fashion designer and PSG president Daniel Hechter in the 1970s.

   PSG's earliest crest featured a football and a ship, taken from the coat of arms of Paris, before the now-famous Eiffel Tower design was introduced in the 1970s.
