1. Liverpool were born from an Everton dispute
   Everton originally played at Anfield, but a disagreement with ground owner John Houlding led them to leave for Goodison Park and Houlding to establish Liverpool.
2. Their first team was nicknamed the "Team of Macs"
   Liverpool's earliest squad was heavily Scottish, with so many players bearing surnames beginning with "Mc" or "Mac" that the side became known as the "Team of Macs".
3. Liverpool didn't always play in all red
   The club originally wore blue and white before adopting red shirts, while the famous all-red strip was introduced under Bill Shankly in the 1960s.
4. The Liver bird arrived on the shirts relatively late
   Although closely associated with Liverpool for centuries, the Liver bird did not become a regular feature on the club's playing shirts until the 1950s.
5. The Kop took its name from a South African battlefield
   Anfield's famous Spion Kop terrace was named after a hill where British soldiers, many from Lancashire, fought during the Second Boer War.
