Hibernian
Founded in Edinburgh in 1875, Hibernian were established by members of the city's Irish community and took their name from Hibernia, the classical Latin name for Ireland. The club became an important part of Scottish football and were among the early Scottish sides to achieve success beyond their home country. Based at Easter Road since the 1890s, Hibs have developed a distinctive identity built around their famous green-and-white shirts, strong links with the Leith area of Edinburgh and a long tradition of entertaining football.
